MP’s CEO, Dr. Amadou Ibra Niang has joined his peers in New York in holding high-level meetings to discuss the financing of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The week-long event spans across the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly that kicks off on Monday, 24 September 2018.
Since the launch of the 2030 agenda under the auspices of the UN in 2000, Dr. Niang had always been a key actor up to 2006 when he finally took the lead in Sub Saharan Africa at the helm of the Millennium Promise.
Under his stewardship, MP has since been scoring successes with several flagship programs including the Millennium Village Program and the Sustainable Districts Program across sub Saharan Africa.
In spite of these successes, the diehard issue of funding has often and again been the challenge that Dr. Niang and his peers will again address both during mainstream discussions and on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Every year in September, world leaders and actors of change gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York to discuss burning issues and set the global agenda for the coming year.
The 73rd session of the UN General Assembly opened on Monday and the annual high-level debate - officially known as the "General Debate" - begins on Tuesday, 25 September.
